MISSION and BELIEFS

With the belief that the arts are an integral expression of our humanity and that the creative process is at the core of human advancement and knowledge, the Pomerene Center for the Arts promotes community involvement in the arts.

As creators, performers, and audience members, we believe a community can find new ways of coming together …new opportunities to imagine and create a vision for the future…new ways to appreciate our shared cultural heritage as well as our diversity.

Founded in 1984 with a mission to promote community involvement in the arts and preserve the Greek Revival mansion in which it is housed,  the Pomerene Center began operating with a strong neighborhood coalition and a few dedicated volunteers.

Throughout its 23 years of operation the Center has been renovated to provie 4 formal exhibition galleries and a media arts lab.  A large garage at the back of the property has been converted into a studio space suitable for class instruction during the spring, summer and fall months.  A basement studio space is used year round.  The center is an ADA facility and is able to provide ASL interpretation upon reservation

As a strong member of the community the PCA is a founding member of the Coshocton County Arts & Culture Alliance, works in partnership community, schools, a wide array of human service providers, the Juvenile Court System, local business and is a member of the Coshocton Chamber of Commerce.
