The Pomerene Center for the Arts
Promoting Community Involvement in the Arts

Downtown Coshocton
Getting what we want in ways we haven't imagined | Three Actions
NO TIME TO LOSE! The physical plant of downtown Coshocton could well be a prototype for Traditional Americana planned communities. In collaboration with the community the Pomerene Center is working to capitalize on the asset of the overwhelming pleasantness of our downtown to help create an environment for growth.
Coshocton has a well-documented arts and culture history and a deeply rooted citizenry: because of this it is fitting to bring together history, arts and culture in recognizable ways to set new courses in development.
Through arts actions the Pomerene Center works to create small new vitalities and visions promoting downtown Coshocton as an area of choice–inviting growth as a multifaceted center of professionalism, entertainment, retail, and residence: Blog

KEYSTONE PROJECT ON THE PARK HOTEL LOT June/Dec 2009. A thriving, multi-use public space at the heart of Coshocton will demonstrably increase downtown's attractiveness, usability and reputation regionally. It will be an economic asset and social anchor-point. We believe the old Park Hotel lot serves as a symbolic call to arms for all those with vision and energy to offer.

SUMMER FILM FESTIVAL | Summers beginning 2009. We'll be coordinating a downtown summer film festival to extend the evening after dining in downtown restaurants. The blighted Park Hotel space calls out for new life. We are working with Dean's Jewelry to present a downtown summer outdoor film festival. The plan is to extend Friday evenings downtown by showing a series of all time favorite movies after nightfall. We'll be canvassing who's who in the community to get our list of films.
