Very Fair

Sundays SEPTEMBER 12 & 19
Children will imagine an environment for a simple pile of gourds arranged as a still life in the studio–warts and crooks and all. Concentrating on drawing and painting techniques young artists will render their visions (the gourds piled in someone’s arms? or in a landscape where they’ve just been harvested? or lying next to the dog…) and leave the class with a finished piece, matted and ready to enter in the Coshocton County Fair. .

Do All Wooden Mannequins Want to become real boys?

Sundays OCTOBER 10 & 17
Using wooden drawing mannequins as models for their characters, young artists will illustrate a scene from a favorite scary book. The finished pen and ink drawings will be included in the Poe Exhibit at the Pomerene Center in late October.

Catching the Light

Sundays NOVEMBER 7 & 14
No sewing involved here but we’ll take our inspiration from colorful Banjara embroidery to create intricately patterned flags and banners.  We’ll substitute mylar sheeting for the traditional small mirrors so we’ll catch the light as we march in the Miracle on Main Street Parade waving our flags.

The Art of Decorating Christmas Cookies

Sunday DECEMBER 5 drop in between 1 & 5pm  $10
Young artists are invited to come paint a dozen award winning sugar cookies for the holidays. The cookies are cut from a singular collection of antique cutters; crows, saucy girls, sweet birds, running foxes...Each cookie/work of art will make a special gift for someone on your list. No baking involved.

Karaoke Kids Vids

Sundays JANUARY 9 & 16
We had such a great time this summer with our Little Animations camp we’re venturing forward with video cameras and illustration to make our own karaoke style music videos. Young performers will team together to choose their music, storyboard their ideas, create illustration backgrounds and sing their hearts out.

Mirror Mirror

Sundays FEBRUARY 6 & 20
Believe it or not, the mirror was a history changing invention.  We'll have fun with the camera obscura, look in the mirror at ourselves and the surrounding inside environment, and draw...all as a way of seeing our world in perspective. .

Skeletons

Sundays MARCH 16 & 20
This class begins with a family trip to the Natural History Museum in Cleveland. Kids will practice drawing skeletons and fossils and will also have a chance to explore the museum. During the second class, kids will draw their own unique creature by morphing skeletal bits and pieces together.

Artists at Work

Saturday & Sunday APRIL 16 & 17
Young artists will join us at the fairgrounds during the UKC beagle competitions. On Saturday we’ll practice drawing beagles and exploring pastels and learn about beagle confirmation, coloring and markings. On Sunday we will "set up shop!" Kids will do pet portraits for a fee and get to keep their earnings!
