Dogwood!

OH SPRING WHERE ART THOU – the Dogwoods are blooming.
Because music makes life interesting and makes your heart leap (like spring),
Pomerene Center for the Arts invites you to DOGWOOD! lunch concerts, an annual event since 1985. Please find this year’s schedule below, Noon, May 4-7.
Monday May 4 – Coshocton High School Jazz Band and Choir
Tuesday May 5 – Ridgewood High School Jazz Band
Wednesday May 6 – River View Jazz Band, Caribbean Drum and Certified Gold Ensembles
Thursday May 7 – Ridgewood High School Choirs
Music is one of those things that makes a human a human – and we’re all wondering about what being human means. Aren’t we? —as AI looms foremost in our brains.
Here’s to our wonderful brains and circuitry! — Here’s to music that can turn on our internal mechanisms of empathy, reward and motivation — aka release little hits of our very own hormones that chase away stress and make us feel connected to one another. Who is immune to feeling hope when a group of young people raise their voices and strike up their bands? What a recipe!
So — come have lunch in the artPARK, bring your friends and co-workers or someone little who will likely want to dance around when the music starts. The Pom will be rolling out our smokeless flat top wood grills and serving grilled cheese sandwiches ($10) featuring Coshocton County’s world champion swiss with a selection of other cheeses made at Pearl Valley Cheese. Here’s to hope. Here’s to spring despite weather that keeps us guessing.
DOGWOOD! will be held at noon in the artPARK, 325 Main Street. Rain site: Fellowship Room at Coshocton Presbyterian Church.
P.S. Additional arts events affiliated with DOGWOOD!
Sunday May 3 – Dr. Bradley Hunter Welch will perform on the Taylor and Boody tracker-action organ at Coshocton Presbyterian Church; …
Friday May 8 – comedian Robert Post will be performing How to Survive Middle School for Ridgewood Middle School students at RHS thanks to a special grant from the Ohio Arts Council celebrating Post’s last months in Ohio before retiring to Portugal to be with his family.
