FAKE BEACH

You went to the beach right after school was out in early June. Or you just got back from the beach and are already missing the sound of the waves, the wind and the way you felt scoured and soul-cleaned and sun-baked. Or you simply didn’t go. Lots and lots of people don’t. All reasons why a FAKE BEACH (along with a good cruise-in and burnout) is in good order at the end of summer.

so we asked ourselves, WHAT DO YOU NEED TO MAKE A BEACH?

• Sand – for building sand castles. ✅
• A view of the ocean. ✅ NOTE: You’ll need your phone to conger up our augmented reality oceanscapes.
• Water to play with. ✅
• Chairs to Lounge in.  ✅ Thanks to Lifo Co we’ll have some.
• If you’re of legal drinking age – beer.  ✅

Are we missing anything essential? Advise: DON’T MISS the artPARK transformed into FAKE BEACH. The schedule looks like this: August 23, 11a-5p

SANDCASTLE BUILDING COMPETITION. Open to people of all ages.  Enter solo or as a group. Registration required. Entry fee $10. 

• CHECK-IN: 11a – 12p. 
• BUILD YOUR OWN CASTLE: 11a – 2p. 
• PRIZES AWARDED: 4p. 

Once you’ve registered (see below) and paid your $10, start gathering your tools! It’s a bring your own buckets and shovels event. We’ll supply access to water, a 42” pool filled with sand and a flag with your individual or group name.

AND the PRIZES? To be sure! Everyone’s a winner of some little trinket. Tallest – $50. Most Creative Tool Use – $50. Grand Prize WOW AWARD – $100. 

HONE YOUR ENGINE REVVING/CAR SLIDING SQUEALS with Anthony Brown — long time heavy metal growler. 3:30 – 4:30p against the Coshocton Antique Mall wall in front of the artPARK sun. Kids! This is your chance to get ready for the POWERHOUSE BABE COMPETITION for best burnout imitation at 5:45p on the artPARK concrete steps directly before the real burnouts start at 6p.

ONGOING throughout the day you’re invited to come and sit, enjoy the virtual ocean view, have a beer (if you’re of legal age)…we’ll have balls out for the ROLLERCOASTER…there are the LOOKING TUBES kaleidoscope and ‘spy’ pipe for viewing the top of the courthouse, and chalk! You’re invited to add your words to live by to our banner and draw on the walks to your heart’s content.    

FAKE BEACH is part of PowerHouse Cruise on Main. We’re at 325 Main Street directly across from the Coshocton County Courthouse. PowerHouse is an event by The Courthouse Illumination Project and the Coshocton County Chamber of Commerce
