    English Country Dance

    3rd artPARK STREET DANCE of the SEASON The Pomerene Center for the Arts is excited to announce the return of Susan English to the artPARK to lead the 3rd social street dance of the season — ENGLISH COUNTRY DANCE June 27, 7p.  Think square dance/line dance only earlier in time and channelling Jane Austen. Susan will be joined by Fourpence — Linda Hershberger-Kirk, cello; Stephanie Musselman, keyboard; Mike Deyo, violin; Cid Cayhoe, penny whistle.  The POM was introduced to Susan at a contra dance organized by Dr. Brandon Hill several years back at the Orange Event Center (formerly Blue Ridge Grange). Music starts at 8p These guys…these polka punks…this eccentric gang…this genuine oom-pah style CHARDON POLKA BAND can turn anything into a Polka. They’ve been doing it since 2003. This is what happens when there’s no place for an accordion player in the local high school marching band and a 16 year old kid pulls a mismatched group of teenagers together so he can play. Beware!
