3rd artPARK STREET DANCE of the SEASON
The Pomerene Center for the Arts is excited to announce the return of Susan English to the artPARK to lead the 3rd social street dance of the season — ENGLISH COUNTRY DANCE June 27, 7p. Think square dance/line dance only earlier in time and channelling Jane Austen. Susan will be joined by Fourpence — Linda Hershberger-Kirk, cello; Stephanie Musselman, keyboard; Mike Deyo, violin; Cid Cayhoe, penny whistle.

The POM was introduced to Susan at a contra dance organized by Dr. Brandon Hill several years back at the Orange Event Center (formerly Blue Ridge Grange). In addition to leading/calling English Country Dance, Susan calls monthly contra and old-time square dances across the Midwest. At home in Wooster, Ohio Susan is in demand for weddings and barn dances, plus homeschool, Civil War, and Jane Austen balls. She led Scottish Country reels last September in the artPARK with Les Délices.
Street dances are joyful events not unlike wedding receptions in their generational appeal, i.e. kids love them. They are FREE and open to the public. Street dances are part of our campaign “MUSIC. A bug we want our kids to catch!” Bring someone young.
Susan English (Wooster, OH) taught her first dance class on a rooftop in China in 1980. In 2017, she returned to China with a $50,000 cultural exchange grant from the U.S. State Department featuring the Country Dancers of Berea, KY. in Europe, China, West Africa, and the U.S.. Susan brings her enthusiasm for people of every background. Susan writes and publishes a dance blog, woosterdance.com.
