Downtown Coshocton   The great thing about spring is it’s really enough just that it’s spring.  Very simple pleasures feel new and special—pleasures like riding your bike, drawing with sidewalk chalk, picnicking… For the 34th year the Pomerene Center for the Arts presents Dogwood! a once-a-year downtown salute to spring.   .    Here’s what’s going on.     Dogwood Youth Arts Celebration 2018

    DOGWOOD YOUTH ARTS CELEBRATION MAY 4-11, 2018 Dogwood Youth Arts Celebration kicks off annually the First Friday of May.  It is a week we spend building our arts & culture legacy by showcasing young Artists and Musicians in the heart of the community. When we try to explain the vitality of arts and culture in our rural county…our museum, historic canal town, botanical garden, theater, community choir, community band, art center…we point to two things Coshocton is the birthplace of the Promotional Products Industry (in the 1900’s we boasted the second highest per capita population of artists east of the Mississippi) Our deeply rooted Appalachian citizenry This is a legacy worth carrying…

    Dogwood Youth Arts Celebration 2017

    Since 1985, youth have been at the heart of Dogwood Festival. Overtime, the word ‘festival’ has become somewhat of a misfit. Please welcome Dogwood Youth Arts Celebration in its place. DOGWOOD YOUTH ARTS CELEBRATION SCHEDULE MAY 5-12, 2017 MAY 5, 5-8pm Downtown Coshocton CHALK & ROLL noon — CHALK ART EVENT begins. Professional artists begin their chalk art work in the artPark, 325 Main Street.  Youth, amateur and team artists join in the artmaking throughout the afternoon and evening. Rain strategies include tents and plastic to cover work during periods of rain.
